Simplifying Algebraic Expressions

Read the following problems and solve by simplifying the expressions.  
1.  A string of length g inches is cut into two pieces.  One piece is 10 inches longer than the other.  Find the length of the shorter piece.  


2.  Kenny has m guppies and 10 angelfish.  He buys another 20 guppies and 30 angelfish.  How many fish does Kenny have now?


3.   8 + 12s - 7 - 9s + 4
